About CCGN

Great Neck was a small suburban town of 4,000 residents when the Community Church of Great Neck (CCGN) was officially founded in May 1914. As the community grew over the years so did the church so that during the ‘40s and ‘50s there was a membership of 1300 adults with a Sunday school that numbered close to 400 young people.

The church has always been diverse in its ethnic structure with members of many different nationalities. But in years following there were demographic changes in the community, with a large growing Jewish population that resulted in a distinct reduction in membership. By the 1990s the membership had dwindled down to 60 members with a Sunday attendance of between twenty to thirty congregants and dropping.

In September of 1994 the “CornerstoneChurch” rented The Community Church of Great Neck and established a Long Island branch church of the Boon Church of Overseas Chinese Mission (OCM). After discussions and mutual fellowship activities in February of 1998 the CornerstoneChurch merged with The Community Church of Great Neck to become one united church.

Community Church of Great Neck is a Bible based evangelical church. We have an English Congregation and a Chinese Congregation. Members of Chinese Congregation come from Taiwan, mainland China, Hong Kong and other south-east Asia countries. We now have a 9:30 A.M. Chinese worship service and an 11:15 A.M. English worship service.

The CCGN structure consists of two boards: “The Board of Trustees” and the Board of Elders and Deacons.  The Board of Trustees oversees and manages the assets and all financial aspects of the church. The Board of Elders and Deacons, together with the pastoral staffs, decides the spiritual direction of the church and is responsible for all church ministries and activities.

We have a Sanctuary with a capacity of 500 to 600 people. Our Chinese Sunday worship service starts at 9:30 A.M. The English worship service starts at 11:15 A.M.

Additionally, there is an auditorium with a capacity of 200 to 250 people, which can be used for other activities, e.g. dinners, fellowship gatherings, recreation, etc. The auditorium has a complete stage and a balcony. CCGN also has many classrooms, and facilities for almost any Church activity.

Parking is no problem near our church. There are three large public parking lots with two blocks from the church. Parking is free after 6:00 P.M weekdays and all day on Sunday.
